Williamstown Massachusetts

Well we have now joined the New England bus tour and completed our first day. Last night we registered and had an informal get together with the tour group. Met some really nice people so looking forward to the trip, see the Autumn colours and meeting some more people.

Where everyone knows your name :-)
It is now Thursday the 26th of Sept and we left Boston this morning, after a brief bus tour around the centre of the city and a visit to "Cheers", where everyone knows your name, and then got into the tour that we are here for "New England in the Fall".

Chip, or Dale??
At the moment Boston is still pretty green, but as we got out into the countryside the colours began to become more evident. We are told that as we go north we will see more and more spectacular scenery.

On the trip from Boston to Williamstown, where we are staying tonight we stopped on route at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, where he lived for a large part of his life. You can click on this link to find out more about Norman Rockwell. He is a very famous American artist who painted classic Americana images, of the ïdeal" world that he envisioned. They have also moved his studio onto the Museum site, and that was really interesting to look around.

We saw our first chipmunk today, and caught him on camera, also went for a walk around Williamstown this afternoon, and apart from seeing our first Autumn colours, we met the most amazing dog that I have ever seen. He was so well trained that his owner was talking to him "quitely" from the other side if the street, and it was if the dog could understand English. It went something like this, walk to the crossing, no not that one the other one, cross, go behind that glass fence, sit, jump over the fence, jump up on that seat, no the other one, now go and greet those people (us), walk behind them, sit, etc etc. it was truely amazing.

Anyhow, tomorrow we are driving North into Vermont and more of Autumn so that will be good..
