Madrid, Another Magical City

AVE train from Barcelona to Madrid
I have the evidence!! Richard is concerned!!
Arrived in Madrid early this afternoon, the 1st Sept, after a high speed train ride on the AVE from Barcelona.

The train reached 300km per hour, the Spanish sure know how to do trains!!, great stations, high quality fast trains, on time :-)

Plaza Mayor
Royal Palace
Got to our hotel at about 2-00pm and set off for our first walk around the city, and what a beautiful place. The hotel is the starting point for the bus tour that begins on Tuesday, so we will have the next couple of days on our own, exploring. Here are a few photos from this afternoon.

The Prado National Art Museum
Another great Cathedral
Monday the 1st of August and we had an Art gallery day. Went to three galleries / National Art museums. The Prado, The Cibeles Centrocentro and The Reina Sofia. The first two were great, but had to rush the Cibeles Centrocento which was a shame.

Great Buildings
This is our final day in Madrid and therefore the last selection of photos. Madrid is a beautiful city, a combination of Paris and Prague, but altogether unique. Fantastic buildings, parks, museums and galleries. It has a real sense of space with it's broad avenues, like Paris, but also very accessible. We walked around the main city areas today in about 4 hrs.

Wide avenues and roads
Beautiful Parks
