On The Road Again!!

Joining the tour, first bit by train
Today, the 4th Sept we left Madrid and, with the tour party took the AVE fast train to Cordoba. Like a number of places that we have been to, it was a total surprise. It has a similar history as Istanbul, strong Christian, Islam and Jewish heritage.

We visited the old town of Cordoba, which was apparently the city of the western civilization at some period in it's history, haven't worked out what period, but it goes way back. Went to the old cathedral that used to be a mosque, like the Blue mosque in Istanbul. The difference with this one is when the Christians took over they built a church withing the mosque. Fascinating to see how the building has developed over the centuries.

Then had a look around the old town, that had a similar feel to Dubrovnik, and Kotor but a Spanish  version obviously.

Then got in the bus and had a three hour drive to Granada in the south of Spain. We are in Granada for the next two nights, staying in the Alhambra Place which is a beautiful place.
